Various documents can be digitally signed using a digital signature certificate, which is a recognized legal document. It can be utilized for e-tenders, tax returns, and numerous regulatory business filings.

4. How long does the DSC registration process take?

In India, the majority of certifying authorities provide digital certificates in three to seven business days.

5. Can I have more than one DSC?

Yes. A person can have different digital signatures for personal use and for other business uses. An individual can apply for a Class 3 certificate, which is the highest level and most secure, and use it for all documents, eliminating the need for keeping numerous certificates for various documents.

6. For how long does the DSC remain valid?

Depending on the class of DSC being obtained, the Certifying Authorities are permitted to issue certificates having a validity of 1 or 2 years.

7. Which kind of digital signature certificate is used for online tendering, digital procurement, and for filing of trademarks and patents?

Class 3 DSC must be obtained and used for e-tendering, e-procurement, or to file a trademark or patent. The best kind of digital signature certificate is called Class 3. It is valid for 1 or 2 years. The owner of class 3 digital signature certificates must renew them after their expiration date.

8. Why DSC’s are valid for a limited period?

The start date and validation expiration date of digital signature certificates are both clearly stated. When using a digital certificate, most initiatives verify the certificate's validity duration. In order to manage the certificate revocation list (CRL), the expiration date of the signature certificate is also needed. A certificate's natural expiration date causes it to be removed from the list of certificates that have been revoked. So, generally speaking, if the CRL is shorter, the shorter would be the certificate validity time.

9. How can I apply for DSC registration?

  • 1. Select the kind of entity for whom you wish to receive the DSC under the "Digital Certification Services" tab, such as "individual or organization," etc.

10. What makes Class 3 DSC different from Class 2 DSC?

An established, already verified database is used to confirm a person's identity in Class 2 DSC. It can be used for both professional as well as personal reasons. Class 3 DSC: Class 3 DSC on the other hand, is the top tier of DSC, and it is where a person's identification is verified by the Registration Authority.
